You’ll pitch us your plan and we’ll let you know if that is feasible. All classes and fees are run through Discover Burien and placed on the Discover Burien calendar.

Classes on subjects like sewing, card making, laser engraving, 3D printing, embroidery, model making, Jewelry making, CNC wood and plasma cutting are highly encouraged. Our target market is adults age 18 and above. If your classes are geared toward children or teens, we’ll have to have further conversation about those types of classes in the space.

    1) You must be a member of The Makerspace in order to use the class space, we do not offer space rental for non-members. Becoming a member involves a one-time $25 application fee. There is no other fee if you are teaching a class. If you wish to use the space for non-class time the regular member rates apply. Students do not have to be members to participate in classes only and spots are reserved online until filled. Most classes are for two hours at most.

    2) Instructor pay is based on attendance and is 50% of the fee collected. Class size is limited to a maximum of 10 people depending on the project. If you have pre-made kits that you provide to students, you will receive 100% of this fee. If Discover Burien provides materials, the kit fee is collected for Discover Burien. If hand tools are required for your class, you will have to provide them.

    3) Discover Burien will promote the class calendar on our website and Social Media. You are encouraged to promote it as well.
