Burien Parks and Recreation and Discover Burien to host Empty Bowls this year. Fundraiser for area food banks. Empty Bowls events can be found around the country raising money to combat hunger in our communities. Potters have donated bowls to be filled with soup at this fun event…all are invited!

Two time slots available: 11:00am-2:00pm and 4:00pm – 8:00pm

Your donation will get you the opportunity to pick out a beautiful handmade bowl, as well as a simple but wonderful meal of soup, bread, drink and dessert donated by area businesses. Proceeds will go to the Highline Food Bank and White Center Food Bank.

Burien Clean Sweep is a city-wide clean-up morning. Volunteers gather at 8:00 a.m. at the fire station for coffee, juice, donuts, etc. They are then assigned to a team and given gloves, garbage bags, buckets, brooms and safety vests. Volunteers are dispatched to an area of the city to clean up trash. At noon the crews return to the fire station for a hot dog lunch and raffle with prizes donated by area businesses. The event ends at 1:00 p.m.

Shredding fundraiser takes place at 611 SW 152nd St. / 9 am – Noon. Last year 8.15 tons of garbage were collected.

Burien Farmers’ Market – every Thursday from the beginning of May through mid-October. The Burien Farmers’ Market has developed into a very successful market with 40 to 50 vendors each week. Vendors include a food booth, handmade goods, farm fresh products and fresh baked products. Vendors must meet the guidelines of “Washington State Farmers Markets”.

Twice a year the potters at the Moshier Art Center gather to sell their handmade wares. Come to this amazing sale to find hundreds of items such as mugs, bowls, serving dishes, casseroles, garden art, soap dishes, jewelry, holiday items, and more! Come early for best selection. Checks or cash accepted.


The Run will be from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m., with check-in at 5:30 p.m., and the raffle from 7:30 – 8 p.m.

Whether you are new to the area or a long time resident, the Wild Strawberry Festival is a tradition like no other. A family friendly annual event with music, games and activities for the kids, artisan craft vendors and the center piece of the event delicious strawberry shortcake. There is so much to see and do all weekend.
